The iconic South African crinkle cut mesh and steel patio furniture of the 50's need no introduction and has become increasingly scarce and sought after.
The origin of these very typical South African mid-century steel hoop chairs proves difficult to trace. There are several versions of these sets around, but up to now we could not find the source or designers. We do know that it is influenced by the early 50's Mexican Acapulco chair by (another) unknown designer, which took the world by storm and has a hoop as the basis of its design.
