To be sold as a pair.
We have seen these sturdy wood frame mid-century armchairs before, but usually they have no marking. This time, we were delighted to find a historical tag stapled to the inside frame, hidden and protected by the previous upholstery. On the tag is written the date, name and manufacturer of these stately and beautifully made chairs.
It says: "Lubners Farm, Van der Bijl, Lionel Chair, Light Sapeli" and is stamped with the date, 6 October 1959 and marked URGENT.
This pair is now recovered with a charcoal grey rough weave by Hertex and the tag is safely covered by this again.
A comfortable fireside pair.
Condition: Very good.
