A pair of black and gilt figures of the Egyptian gods Anubis and Khnum, each standing on a rectangular base. Anubis has the head of a jackal and holds a slender metal staff in one hand and an ankh in the other. Khnum has the head of a ram and wears a tall gilt crown, and he holds a metal staff of his own. The base and back pillar of the Khnum figure are decorated with hieroglyphs and a cartouche picked out in gilt. The base of the Anubis figure carries a single line of gilt hieroglyphs, and its underside is covered in red felt. They are vintage souvenir-style reproductions in the manner of tomb statuary, and the maker is unknown.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Both figures are dusty, and there is light gilt wear along the base of Anubis. There is minor paint loss at the horn tips and crown edges of Khnum.
Dimensions:
Anubis: 9 x 5.5 x 22 cm (h)
Khnum: 13 x 6 x 32.5 cm (h)
