The Princess Chris desk is an L-shaped work desk made in-house by Huisraad Modern. The top is 25 mm birch plywood with the ply edge left exposed and lightly rounded at the corners, giving the surface a layered, striated edge detail rather than a painted or veneered finish. The base is built from solid pine, with tapered, angled legs and cross stretchers that echo the joinery of a classic mid-century writing desk. The L-shape configuration offers a generous, split-level work area, well suited to a home office setup with room for both a monitor station and a separate writing or reading zone. The desk is finished by hand in Huisraad's Parow East workshop, in keeping with the studio's approach to mid-century style manufacturing.
