Two cabinets available
An early 20th century shop display cabinet, once used behind a haberdasher's or jeweller's counter to show stock under glass. The lower cabinet is mahogany with an Art Deco stepped bakelite inlay in red and black at the front corners. A heavy glass display case with a brass frame sits on top of the base as its own element, with an open interior running the length of the case.
The base is open at the back with two shelves that provide ample storage space. The cabinet stands on a black, solid slate plinth base.
The wood and inlay have been repaired and refinished, giving the wood a clean, even surface. The brass patina has been left as found rather than polished back to bright. Some wear consistent with age and prior commercial use remains.
Condition: Good and sturdy vintage condition. The bakelite inlay is cracked and touched up, the slate has chips around the base. The brass has a rich patina. The wood has a new satin varnish finish.
Dimensions: 60 × 161 × 89.5 cm (h)
