A large, solid wood cabinet with pigeon holes for letters, originating from a police office many decades ago. The pigeon holes are still marked in Afrikaans with the ranks, although most of them are illegible.
With time this piece was repurposed as a workshop storage unit and work surface. Four holes show where a vice was mounted. The oil, ink and paint marks and chips and scratches in the wood bear the history of a long service.
Condition: Good and sturdy with rich patina. The wood was scrubbed with care to remove any surface grease and grime, while keeping the character in tact. Once dried, the wood was treated with a natural Hesse oil, that will preserve and protect the wood. The cupboard doors were damaged beyond repair, and we replaced the wood panels with glass. The backing board is new.
