Two exceptional shopfitting pieces, built in the 1950's by Brimble & Briggs for a jewelery store in Hermanus. The frames and drawer fronts are all solid oak. The drawers have been well made with solid wood and proper joints.
The cabinets are all original, up to the cast iron brackets in the upper display cases. The inside walls of the display cases are still original and are a kind of textured paint.
The sides of the cabinets were unsightly when we found them since these units have been built-in and the sides were not exposed, so we just covered them neatly with lightly stained pine plywood.
Each unit can stand by itself, but they are only 32 cm deep and the glass door panels are quite heavy, so we would recommend that they be secured to a wall.
Condition: Al the solid wood parts have been sanded and sealed. Three of the 6 mm thick door panels that run on wheels, are new. These units display wear consistent with age.
