A rare pair of solid kiaat, mid-century armchairs by John Tabraham forKallenbach's.
These chairs were made in the heyday of Scandinavian mid-century modernism that influenced furniture design worldwide.
Not much is written about John Tabraham, but we know that his designs were manufactured and sold by leading mid-century furniture houses such as Kallenbach and DS Vorster, and that today these designs still stand out for being unique and timeless within the simplistic modernist style, the longevity of the pieces because of the high quality craftsmanship, and detail like the elegant finger joints and the slight curve of the armrests.

Condition: Very good. All the cushions are brand new, high density foam, 125 mm thick and covered with a salt and pepper, high rub count Hertex fabric with piping around the edges. The strapping under the seats have been replaced and the wood has been refinished. One chip on the corner of an armrest. See the last picture for detail.
Dimensions: 70 x 72 x 72 cm (h). The seat is 46 cm high.
