A collectible 1960's teak dining table by Scottish furniture leaders, AH McIntosh. It is a good example of mid century modernist dining furniture in the Danish style. The round table comfortably seats four, but smoothly extends to an oval shape to fit six to eight chairs.
A slight colour difference between the extended part and the rest of the top indicates that it has not been used much in the extended shape.
Condition: Very good.
Dimensions: 77 cm (high) and 122 cm in diameter. The extended length is 167 cm.
Alexander Henry M'Intosh started his furniture business in 1869 in Kircaldy, Scotland and the firm, now called ESA McIntosh, is still making furniture. In it's heyday, after World War II, it mainly produced high quality teak furniture by local, highly trained cabinet makers in the style of the Danish modern furniture of the time. Today mid century McIntosh furniture is highly rated and sought after for the quality and slick design.
