An exceptional design and handmade, English Modernist drop-leaf table by David Joel Ltd, circa 1940. The base, with it's architectural stance, has two hinged beams that work with an unusual, yet simple, locking system. They easily click in and out to lift or drop the two side leafs of the top. Originally this table was designed as a library table, but it has good proportions as a dining table for four to six.
The top is an Indian Laurel veneer, carefully refinished, so this table is in great condition.
When open it is 153 cm and when closed 79 cm. Height: 75.5 cm and depth: 70 cm.
