We don’t know the history of this large, Burmese teak, shop display cabinet. But the size and elegance of the lines suggest that it was rather from the jewelry or beauty department of one of the splendid old stores in Cape Town, like Stuttafords or Garlicks, than from a pharmacy.
We estimate it to be from between 1940 and 1950, but it is possibly even older. The most striking characteristic is the size and the unusual shape. It is high and wide, but not very deep, creating an elegant and opulent feel.
It has four glass shelves and two doors and short, turned legs.
Condition: Very good vintage. It is missing it’s back glass or mirror panel. The cabinet can work very well as a display unit without a back panel, but the option of installing a two panel glass or mirror back is available at an extra cost. The installation will be done on site, due to the risk of shipping such large glass panels.
Dimensions:126.5 x 37.5 x 202.5 (h).
Delivery by Huisraad Modern of this cabinet is only available in Cape Town and surrounds.
