Please note that we cannot take responsibility for transporting this cabinet outside of the Western Cape, as it is a very fragile item.
This large haberdashery unit was probably made in the 1940’s in Cape Town. The frame is oak and drawer fronts are laminated wood with a mahogany finish.
The cabinet was sanded and painted without disturbing the historical marks and scars. Some parts have been fixed up on the run by the owners during the ages which adds to the charm and character of the piece. The sides were covered with branded stickers and we left one intact – Three Cats Sheweshwe fabric - the rest were too torn and scarred to leave. The metal frames of the glass are aluminium and the glass top was broken and had to be replaced. The last 31 years of this cabinet’s life was spent in a general dealer in the Bellville station. Before that? Anybody’s guess.
Condition: Soulful patina, sanded and sealed, new top.
