A very large and rare mid-century, modular, wall unit or room divider with five cabinets and a lot of shelf space. We could not trace the origin of the unit, but it is definitely South African and most probably from one of the large mid-century producers of the sixties. It has four steel posts and the veneer is sapele mahogany.
One cabinet was used for a built-in turntable (now removed). One - with two black glass sliding doors - is typically used for glasses with a drinks cabinet to its left.
Condition: Fair. Wear consistent with age. Some scratches on the veneer here and there (look at the pictures carefully for detail). A corner of one shelf has been cut away to make space for a television. The open particle board can get a veneer edge, or the shelf can be replaced, although it will be difficult to find an exact replica. This unit needs to be delivered and assembled. Unfortunately it is only available in Cape Town – we do not offer shipping to Gauteng.
