This pair of visitor's chairs hail from Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, where they have been in service since the 1950's. They were in a pretty rough state when we found them. We shortened the backs a bit, refinished the wood and did a complete upholstery overhaul. The sapele frames are as strong as the day they were made. They are now covered with a cool blue, soft Hertex flannel type fabric and are comfortable: the perfect reading chair.
