A tall shop display cabinet with an oak frame, five shelves and two doors. We estimate it to be from between 1940 and 1950, but it is possibly even older. The size and elegance suggests that it was from the jewelry or beauty department of one of the splendid old stores in Cape Town, like Stuttafords or Garlicks.
The most striking characteristic is the size and the unusual shape. It is high and wide, but not very deep, creating an elegant and opulent feel.
It has one wooden and four glass shelves, two doors and short, turned legs.
Condition: Very good vintage. One side glass panel has a short crack that is not very prominent. See the last photo for detail.
