An early American campaign chair. We're prepared to commit to late 19th century, but it could be as early as the American Civil War, since all similar samples we could find was Civil War chairs, amongst others several chairs of generals such as Ulysses Grant. The arm that is bent forward is a typical American style.
The dark wood frame is possibly one of the rosewood variants. The suspended leather seat is new.
We would advise against putting a heavy weight on the chair.
Condition: Sanded and varnished.
Dimensions: 57 x 72 x 93 cm (h) and 36 cm seat height.
