EKCO (Eric Kirkham Cole Ltd) was a British electronics company that started out in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in 1927 to produce radios and later television sets. This heater was known as a thermotube tubular heater and production started in 1948. It was revolutionary technology at the time and heaters with the same technology is manufactured to this day by a company called Thermo, boasting that it is one of the most energy efficient technologies available. The EKCO company itself was bought up by Philips Electrical Industries by 1967 and the brand disappeared.
