A vintage iconic Arabia coffee set from Finland.
The set consists of six small coffee cups and saucers, six cake plates, a sugar bowl with lid and a coffee pot with lid.
The Ruska series of Arabia Finland, designed by Ulla Procopé, is a modern Scandinavian design classic. It was designed in the 1960’s and became one of the best-selling series for the company. It was so popular that production carried on until 1999.
It was the first time the company used a matt glaze for factory produced ware. The unusual technique, with powdered iron applied to the glazing, has a hand-crafted feel about it with the glaze colour and mottled appearance turning out slightly different in every piece. Each piece has a smokey and slightly artisanal feel.
As with most modern products, it was versatile. The Ruska range could be used for serving, but also for baking, heating, baking, or even storing in the freezer.
