Three identical Haberdashery Cabinets that carry nearly a century of Cape Town history within their frames. They were first built for Noyes Pharmacy in 1931, a landmark establishment in Main Rd, Newlands (Cape Town). Over the decades, these shop cabinets passed through the hands of Mr. S.R. Noyes, M. Luntz, W. Rakin, and finally Ian McGregor, who kept the doors open and its spirit alive for the past 30 odd years. Mr. McGregor retired recently and the pharmacy was sold to a chain group and refurbished completely.
Above the 11 drawers and one space for invoice books, is a wood framed glass display cabinet. The sliding glass doors open to reveal generous display space — perfect for collectors or curators.
The cabinets are partly restored and in very good condition. The wood is sanded and varnished, all the glass is tact and the drawers have the original cup handles. The padded and buttoned panel on the front of the cabinet can be removed. Look at the pictures for detail.
