In tune with the demands of the time, the Duros furniture company that was founded in 1904 by the Latvian immigrant cabinet maker, Hyman Ospovat in Roeland Street in Cape Town, also turned to the design sensibilities of the Danish modernist movement in the 1950's. The Danes made furniture that suited the lifestyle of the optimistic and sensible post-war young people who embraced apartment living and pragmatism, but also great design principles.
This mahogany coffee table is great for a smaller lounge or apartment, but can flip open to become a large coffee table when guests arrive for games night.
