A rare and collectible mid-century classic. Other than most other South African modernist furniture pieces, this sofa's design is not a straight copy of a Scandinavian piece. It is a wonderful Japandi design in own right, by the Bakker & Steyger company.
The back and back legs are all integrated as part of the base frame. What's more, is that the back can be removed to transform the sofa into a single bed, with two hidden legs that fold out to level the bed.
The sofa has new upholstery. It is covered in quality grey weave with a lovely texture.
The wood is oak and the new upholstery is a hardy grey corduroy.
Condition: Restored and recovered.
Dimensions: 181 x 80 x 79 and 42 cm seat height.
