1930's Hunter Century Pedestal Fan

R 0.00

This art deco pedestal fan from the American Hunter Century Fan & Ventilating Company was probably made in the late 1930's (the Hunter and Century companies merged in 1936) or early 1940's. It is are a very rare find. We haven't been able to trace one other example of this specific model online (the desk fans are more common). What makes it more exciting is that the first commercially manufactured electrical appliances, like this one, reach the magical 100 year status of being an "antique". This one works perfectly. It oscillates and is height adjustable, and has two speed settings.

The materials are bakelite, cast iron and chrome and the base is very heavy.

Condition: The piece has a lovely character, it was used for many decades, but well preserved. We had it rewired by a professional: the electrical cord has been replaced, but not the wiring of the coils inside the electrical motor, which are still running smoothly. It needs to be treated with care, though. We cannot issue a guarantee on it, but if it breaks, we'll be available for advice.

Since it is an American product, it runs on 110 Volt. We've added a step-down transformer to the power supply, so that it can run on South African 220 Volt power.

Dimensions: 30 x 130 cm and the fully extended height is 173 cm
