A 85-piece vintage Arabia Ruska dining set from Finland. It was originally bought in the 1960's and has had one owner who looked after it very well, the set is in pristine condition. One large coffee mug has a small chip on the rim.
The Ruska range of Arabia Finland, designed by Ulla Procopé, is a Scandinavian classic. It was designed in the 1960’s and became one of the best selling series for the company. It was so popular that production carried on until 1999.
It was the first time the company used a matt glaze for factory produced ware. The unusual technique, with powdered iron applied to the glazing, has a hand-crafted feel about it with the glaze colour and mottled appearance turning out slightly different in every piece. Each piece has a smokey and slightly artisinal feel.
The Ruska range could be used for serving, baking, heating, or even storing in the freezer. It is dishwasher and microwave safe.
