The majority of vintage and antique haberdashery counters found in South Africa were made by South African shopfitters between 1915 and 1955. It is therefore rare to find an ash cabinet made by Finnish manufacturer A.Ahlström Osakeyhtiö Warkaus, Finland, 1960s in a department store in Springs on the East Rand. The cabinet has 20 drawers that cascade, visible through the glass sides and top.
Condition: Very good with signs of wear and use, primarily on the steel frame. There is a small crack in corner of one glass side panel. One drawer face have been replaced. Two of the drawer handles have been replaced. The wood has a new satin varnish.
Dimensions: 183 x 39.5 x 75 cm (h)
